Miracles Vs Natural Law
Miracles can be defined as supernatural acts above and beyond natural law. God created man from the dust of the earth; then he took a rib from Adam and formed Eve. Life was given to Adam and Eve by miracle; life; the same life that was given to them; has been passed on to their children through all the generations from them to us by the law of reproduction.
Jesus took a few loaves and fishes and multiplied them; and fed a great multitude; more than five thousand men; that was a miracle. Since we cannot perform miracles we get food by the way of nature. God provides the sunshine and rain; we plant the seed and cultivate it; harvest it; prepare and eat it. (Gen 8:22; James 5:7)
The same is true in the spiritual world. Jesus came from heaven to earth. He did many miracles; to prove that God sent him. (Acts 2:22) Our Lord chose the apostles to go forth and tell the great truths of Christianity; with many signs; wonders; and miracles. (Mark 16:20; Heb 2:3-4) Now, the church functions under the “law of the Spirit of life in Jesus Christ,” (Rom 8:2)
Jesus went back to heaven; there are no living apostles; or those who the apostles laid hands on; therefore; no more miracles such as Jesus and the apostles performed while on earth. Miracles ceased when all the truth had been revealed and confirmed. (1Cor. 13:8-13) The perfect law of liberty; the system of faith once delivered; has appeared. (Jude 3; James 1; 25) We do not have inspired men living today; but; we do have the God breathed bible; which those inspired men gave us; confirmed by miracles. Apostle Paul speaks of the Gospel as being certified; and the power of God. (Gal 1:11; Rom 1:16)
What we call natural law is the orderly working of God in the natural world. For example; God upholds all things by the word of his power. (Heb 1:3) We do not call this a miracle; such as Christ and the apostles did while on earth. This is God in his omnipotent nature. By his very nature he keeps days following nights; nights following days; and etc. Our God is so big and so mighty, there’s nothing our God cannot do; think of the creation.
While on earth Christ healed immediately and completely while crowds looked on. God heals today through his law of medicine. Certainly we believe in praying for the sick; but there is a difference in miracles; and God working through natural laws; in his providence; behind the scenes.
