Think Again About Hell

0

Perfected by his obedience, Jesus became “the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.” (Heb. 5:8-9) The result of disobedience is eternal destruction in flaming fire. This is what the Bible calls HELL. When Christ comes to be glorified in his saints; admired in all them that believe, he will also be coming with revenge for those that obey not the gospel. (2 Thess. 1:8-9) The FACT of hell is as sure as the word of God!

Hell was created for the devil and his angels. Jesus shows the outcome of the disobedient by comparing those on his left to those who failed to obey in this life. He says their punishment will be in a place that is set for Satan and his angels. God warned, if we fail to give meat to the hungry; drink to those who thirst; clothes to the naked; fail to visit the sick and take in strangers, we will hear the awful statement, “Depart from me you cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.” (Matt. 25:40-46)

Think about the DURATION of hell. It’s as long as eternity itself! There will be some who will “go away into EVERLASTING punishment.” (V. 46)

The FINALITY of hell is as unchangeable as the judgment. Once Jesus makes the call, it is never to be reversed. Do you remember the ten virgins? Five were said to be wise; five were foolish. They went out to meet the bridegroom; the foolish took no oil for their lamps. At midnight the call came to go out and meet the bridegroom; the foolish were unprepared. The wise virgins entered in with the bridegroom to the marriage; Jesus says the DOOR WAS SHUT. The foolish returned; knocked and tried to get in; the reply was, “I know you not.” (Matt. 25:1-13)

The Bible tells of the TORMENT of hell. Can you imagine a place compared to a “burning lake of fire?” Jesus says it is a “furnace of fire” where there shall be “wailing and gnashing of teeth.” (Matt. 13:43, 50) Do you remember reading of the rich man’s torment? (Luke 16:19-31)

The AVOIDANCE of hell is as conditional as the terms of obedience to the gospel.   Sin that is not repented of; not washed away by the blood of Christ will condemn us to hell. What are you doing to shun hell?
